Beaver Creek Conservation Area

Beaver Creek Conservation Area is another place near Saskatoon worth visiting. The "Castor Creek" flows into the South Saskatchewan River, creating a hydrographical microcosm, home to a beautiful diversity of fauna. The conservation area is part of a more significant interconnected corridor for wildlife, with dune grassland complexes that provide unique habitats for grassland birds and wildflowers. It is home to many at-risk species, including the dune-dependent lamb's quarters and the ground-nesting common nighthawk. The beavers there play an important role in keeping the creek habitat teeming with wildlife. Beavers build dams that flood the waters upstream, creating beaver ponds. Many plants and animals have taken up residence in these sheltered ponds. The Interpretive Center and staff provide opportunities to experience nature in all four seasons along nature trails. Open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 A.M. to 5 P.M., the Beaver Creek Conservation Area is located approximately 13 km south of Saskatoon. From Lorne Avenue, take Route 219 south to Saskatoon. After about 12 km, you will see a Beaver Creek East sign, do not turn here; continue after this sign for about 1 km until you see a sign on the right that says, "Beaver Creek Conservation Area." Turn right (west) and follow the winding road to the parking lot.
