The northern hamlet of Stanley Mission is located 80 km northeast of La Ronge on the Churchill River. The community's name honours the ancestral home of the Reverend Robert Hunt, pastor of the mission at the time, in Stanley Park, Gloucestershire, England.
The community is home to Holy Trinity Church, the oldest surviving building in Saskatchewan. The wood used to build the church was cut locally. However, the locks, hinges and thousands of pieces of coloured glass used in the stained glass windows came from England. Community events include a snowmobile rally in January, a winter festival in March, and a summer rally in July.
