Réserve de la biosphère du Lac Redberry

Leave Saskatoon on the Yellow Head Highway (Highway 16) heading west, pass Langham, and cross the North Saskatchewan River. Admire on your left the abandoned arch bridge designed in reinforced concrete, in operation from 1939 to 1985. When you arrive in Radisson, take Route 340 north towards the village of Hafford (population 416 according to the 2016 census).

The Redberry Lake Biosphere Reserve is located northwest of Saskatoon. UNESCO named it World Biosphere Reserve in 2000. This reserve is an important location for the conservation of migratory birds. It provides a habitat for nine endangered bird species and over 180 other species, including the American white pelican. Redberry Lake Regional Park was established in 1969. It is located along the wagon trail from Fort Pitt to Fort Carlton, which was heavily used from 1820 to 1870. The area was also known to Northern Company fur traders -West Alexander Henry, demographer and explorer, and David Thompson, explorer, from 1808. Don't forget your binoculars!
