Lac Tobin
Population: 139 (2021 census)
Lake Tobin is nested in the boreal forest and dotted with resorts, cabins and campgrounds. The site offers visitors excellent access to walleye and northern pike fishing. Enjoy water sports, indulge in swimming in the lake's waters, and savour the trails. Charter a fishing boat or enjoy a houseboat vacation. Tobin was formed in 1963 with the damming of the Saskatchewan River and quickly gained fame for its big walleye. However, just 15 years later, heavy pressure had taken its toll, and the fishery was in disarray. Tobin has once again become a popular sport fishing destination since the late 1990s, with the massive impoundment of young fish and the imposition of strict fishing limits. The lake is now stocked, the catches are good, and you can access the lake by road. It was Lake Tobin that produced the current provincial walleye record.
