The Greater Saskatchewan Delta
The Saskatchewan River Delta is the largest inland delta in North America. The North and South Saskatchewan Rivers feed it. The delta is part of a watershed that spans Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, forming various wetlands, shallow lakes, canals and forests. It represents one of the most impressive landscapes in the world. Despite all this, the delta remains unprotected and vulnerable to current and future demands from upstream water users. Visiting places requires preparation and openness to the unknown. The delta is part of a tradition that dates back more than 7,000 years.
